The Senior Instructional Designer plays a critical role in designing, developing, managing, and coordinating daily activities on designated e-learning projects for Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM). The purpose is to ensure that the goals and objectives of projects are accomplished on time utilizing sound Instructional Design principles and methodologies. The management and execution of the course development process and proper use of the Learning Management System (LMS) will be a key aspect of this role. The Senior Instructional Designer may serve as a point of contact among team members, instructional designers, outsourced vendors, and clients. This individual will work independently with little supervision to meet objectives. Strong organization skills, time management, experience in multiple aspects of enterprise learning, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks are all prerequisites for this position. Key Responsibilities: Applying knowledge of adult learning principles to content design and development to create innovative solutions that meet organizational educational needs. Establishing working relationships with and consulting with all stakeholders, including leadership to identify and document needs for assigned Instructional Design projects. Leading and executing project tasks related to training and development within established scope, timelines, and budget. Designing and developing instructor-led and e-learning materials. Developing job aids, guides, and other learning materials. Analyzing learning needs and consulting with subject matter experts to provide input for course design and content in both the face-to-face and e-learning environments. Executing instructional design methods and adult learning principles to ensure that course design and content meet learning goals. Creating outlines and scripts that provide program structure. Collaborating with management and subject matter experts to ensure that course materials are current and relevant to learning needs. Uploading designed and developed computer-based instructional programs to the LMS. Tracking and analyzing learning programs by examining course evaluations and making recommendations for changes and/or enhancements as appropriate. Mentoring junior staff members in Instructional Design. Meeting with leadership to provide presentations on content design and development tasks. Working under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment that demands high quality, creativity, and consistency. Required Job Qualifications: Advanced experience in developing online and/or e-learning training material. Experience in managing Instructional Design projects. Advanced experience in creating and conducting presentations to business stakeholders and learners. Advanced experience in understanding business workflows related to the assigned project. Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of Instructional design, graphics, e-learning development tools (i.e., Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Captivate, etc.), Project Management tools, and office software (i.e., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Demonstrated extensive knowledge of designing competency-based training. Strong ability to incorporate policies, procedures, and specific job responsibilities into training. Advanced knowledge and application of adult learning principles. Strong understanding of technical instructional design techniques and technology for instructor-led and online course development. Advanced knowledge in organizational assessment to designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Applications – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with proficiency in Learning Management Systems as well as patient accounting and registration applications. Strong understanding of how to operate general office and communications equipment, including personal computers and audiovisual equipment. Strong knowledge of competency models and assessments. Education: Requires a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution in Instruction Design, Education, or similar. Master’s degree in related field is preferred. Work Experience: At least 5 years of prior experience in Instructional Design, adult education, and training. Salary Range:

Minimum $33.40 per hour - Maximum $55.16 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
