Vice President (VP)
Global investment bank is seeking a VP, Public Relations who can be a strategic thought partner and execute on outbound public relations efforts.
Key Qualifications:
- 8+ years of media relations experience at an agency or in-house; experience in banking, financial services or investment banking is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, economics, marketing or related discipline.
- Proactive, creative thinker who is results-driven and excels when operating in white space.
- Has a strong executive presence and communication skills, both verbally & in writing; able to influence key stakeholders and serve as PR SME.
- Excellent judgement, strong critical thinking and analytical skills; ability and eagerness to take a creative approach to problem-solving.
- Can prioritize multiple demands and handle challenging situations that may require adapting to changing/evolving requirements.
- Media relations skills including knowing how to pitch stories, respond to media inquiries, prepare media kits, organize interviews and press conferences, and assist with crisis situations.
- Displays creative skills including knowing how to brainstorm, ideate, conceptualize, and execute campaigns, events, stories, and content that capture attention and interest.
Core competencies:
Run-the-Business Operations and Proactive Media Outreach/Pitching
- Support and deliver on key, strategic media relations opportunities, with a focus on proactive communications and boosting top tier coverage opportunities across multimedia platforms to support Moelis’ overall PR strategy.
- Nurture and cultivate relationships with priority news media, inclusive of trade outlets.
- Create a cadence of press opportunities for identified Moelis spokespeople that elevate “the Moelis story” with reporters.
Competitive Intelligence Strategy
- Leverage comp intel reporting to understand competitor positioning/PR strategy.
- Keep a close eye on the new cycle and trends to facilitate more proactive pitching.
- Stay abreast of trends and coverage monitoring to help “newsjack” what’s coming.
Cross-Coverage on Media Inquiries/Run-the-Business Operations
- Provide cross-coverage and serve as another set of hands for run-the-business activities (e.g., morning clips, inbounds, social media posts, coverage tracking & reporting).
- Serve as another point of contact for media inquiries, coordinating interviews, providing timely and accurate information.
- Review & support junior team members work as needed.
Additional Contributions:
- Evaluate and vet speaking engagements and sponsorship opportunities.
- Prepare bankers for speaking engagements and sponsorships, ensuring alignment with key messaging.
- Conduct first reviews of award submissions, ensuring clarity and impact.
- Review vendor contracts as needed to maintain operational excellence.
Compensation: $145-160K base plus bonus and competitive benefits package.
This role is onsite 4 days/week (Fridays remote).
