High Point University’s Athletic department, located in North Carolina, is seeking a high-energy, creative candidate to join the HPU staff as the Director of Broadcast Operations. This position will oversee all broadcast operations and reports directly to the Senior Director of Communications/Creative Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Bachelor's degree in a field such as Media, Video Production, or Communications, or equivalent experience required.
Experience and Training
Advanced knowledge of Ross Carbonite, Ultrix, XPression & Mira.
Advanced knowledge of NewTek Tricaster & 3-Play.
Advanced knowledge of Black Magic ATEM Switcher & VideoHub Router.
Advanced knowledge of Yamaha & Allen and Heath audio boards, as well as Dante.
Advanced knowledge of ClearCom Analog and IP Communication Systems.
Understanding of broadcast/studio camera hardware including but not limited to Hitachi, Fujinon, Black Magic & Marshall.
Understanding of Video/Broadcast Engineering principles including but not limited to fiber use and cleaning, equipment maintenance & upkeep, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and student crew.
Ability to adequately train, mentor, and advise HPU SportsLink student crew.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Oversees all operational aspects of game broadcasts and other productions.
Manages and troubleshoots technical needs of the production unit, including but not limited to cameras, graphics and replay equipment, switchers, audio, video boards, and radio.
Serves as producer/director/engineer for home live streaming broadcasts and home game video board shows.
Coordinates talent and production staff for ESPN+ streams and video board shows.
Manages pre-approved production control room & facility enhancements related to broadcast operations.
Maintains video equipment and facilities.
Manages operational budget.
Serves as liaison, resource, and Staff Advisor for HPU SportsLink.
Serves as liaison with university video, communication, and operations department units.
Serves as liaison with Big South Conference & ESPN.
Strategically plans to meet future needs of video operations.
Experience working in a live sports broadcast control room setting.
Previous work in live sports broadcasts not limited to, but including: Producing, Directing, Technical Director, Camera Operator, Replay Operator, Audio, Graphics/Scorebug, Video Shading, Engineering.
Experience using Adobe Suite including Photoshop & Premiere or similar products.
Other duties as assigned.
