Do you teach Guitar, plus Bass and/or Drums and/or Keys and/or Vocals? We're looking for an experienced music instructor who is friendly, enthusiastic about music, and enjoys working with both kids and adults. All of our teachers are working musicians and/or students, and absolutely love what they do. In particular, we are looking for instructors who can work Fridays from 2-8 pm and Saturdays from 10-5 pm.

The School of Rock Music Instructor teaches students from ACDC to Zappa. The Instructor creates a safe and cool environment for students to achieve their musical and creative potential and ensures that each School of Rock student has an exceptional musical journey. In support of that goal, the Instructor is responsible for all music and education-related elements within the lessons. The Instructor creates a dynamic lesson experience to ensure their students are challenged and inspired. The Instructor embodies rock and roll in a positive way and is responsible for creating a valuable student lesson experience.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maximize the quality of music instruction in one-on-one lessons and potentially group rehearsals.
  2. Ensure the students are learning the fundamentals of music, not just songs.
  3. Create thoughtful lesson plans tailored to the student.
  4. Document lesson notes.
  5. Communicate regularly with parents on the progress of students after lessons.
  6. Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible in the school.
  7. Pitch in during canceled lessons in the overall execution of the program.
  8. Assist in rehearsals and basic maintenance in school.
  9. Adhere to the SOR Code of Conduct, safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy.

Skill Requirements:

  1. Experience teaching and/or performing music professionally.
  2. Knowledge of music theory.
  3. Excellent ability to deal well with a wide range of customers and other people.
  4. Strong organizational skills.
  5. Very strong customer relations skills.
  6. Resourceful and good problem-solver.
  7. Works well under pressure.
  8. Ideal candidate is a working musician who also has formal music school training.
  9. Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor.
  10. Good judgment a must.
  11. Passion for teaching.
  12. Embraces technology and learning platforms as provided by School of Rock.
