American Chemical Society (The “Organization”) has engaged Major, Lindsey & Africa on an exclusive basis to conduct a search for an Assistant General Counsel – Publishing.

Overview:
Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel – Publishing will contribute to and oversee ACS’s Intellectual Property strategy and portfolio, supporting its Publications Division, as well as have responsibility for licensing and related commercial transactions. The AGC will provide expertise to the Organization on a wide range of day-to-day publications sector legal and IP strategy, licensing, protection and related commercial matters for ACS and its operations around the world. Providing both strategic and practical legal advice, solutions, and sound judgement, this role will have a particular focus on ACS’s Publications Division and broad IP portfolio.

Experience:
Minimum 12+ years of experience with a multinational organization or law firm, including publication sector experience (print and digital).

Location:
Washington, D.C. This is a hybrid role.

Bar:
Admitted to practice, active, and in good standing with at least one state bar.

Compensation:
$250,000 - $275,000 plus discretionary bonus and benefits.
