The Digital Studio Instructional Support Technician will collaborate with faculty, staff, and IT to configure, support, track, and maintain software/hardware technology and equipment for the purpose of maximizing instructional needs in the Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Arts/Master of Fine Arts programs with art/technology curriculum. The Digital Studio Instructional Support Technician configures, supports, maintains, and stays current with advancements in Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality/Extended Reality applications, game engines, and integration of relevant Artificial Intelligence generators to support the disciplines in Game Art, Animation and Immersive Media; Creative Photography and Experimental Media; Graphic and Interactive Design; Entertainment Art/Animation, and other related programs. The Digital Studio Instructional Support Technician configures, supports, maintains College of the Arts technology and equipment, including high-end motion capture system, green screen stage, LED lighting, cameras, motion control, audio, and applications such as Unreal Engine Five to support class projects and faculty-led instruction including courses in virtual and mixed reality. Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and IT to configure and support software/hardware technology and equipment.
- Track and maintain technology and equipment for instructional needs in art/technology curriculum.
- Stay current with advancements in Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality/Extended Reality applications and game engines.
- Support disciplines in Game Art, Animation, Creative Photography, Graphic Design, and related programs.
- Configure and maintain College of the Arts technology and equipment, including motion capture systems and green screen stages.
- Assist in the use of applications such as Unreal Engine Five for class projects and faculty-led instruction.
Requirements
- Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Equivalent of two years' experience providing instructional support services in an art or related unit.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Understanding of equipment operations and general repairs in a visual arts environment.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with 3D printing.
- Experience in augmented/Virtual Reality.
- Understanding of In-Camera Visual Effects (ICVFX) and LED walls/volumes.
- Experience with Unreal Engine Five and Virtual Production.
- Experience with greenscreen lighting, cameras, and audio equipment.
