We seek to hire a creative, ambitious
Interior Designer I
who shares our commitment to design excellence, sustainability, and innovation. You will join a team of interior designers and architects working in a multi-discipline, collaborative, and engaging team-based environment that draws on multiple perspectives in the pursuit of innovative solutions. As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to shape architectural projects in a variety of typologies and scales for clients that include educational and cultural institutions, commercial developers, government entities, and local communities. The ideal candidate for this position will be energetic and passionate about design, committed to quality, engaged in team, office, and firm-wide initiatives, able to work independently and in a team environment, and able to prioritize work.
General responsibilities include but are not limited to the following :
Non-licensed entry level professional interior design staff
Fully competent performance in all conventional aspects of interior design under the supervision of the Senior Certified Interior Designer
Independently performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of skills in all conventional aspects of interior design for projects of moderate size and complexity
Develops design layouts and details, which require researching, compiling, and recording information for assigned project work.
Collaborate with project teams during project design phases including programming, concept development, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation
Develop design sketches, renderings, models, graphics, presentation materials, analysis, and construction drawings and schedules
Responsible for conducting product research, developing conceptual studies, assisting with project programming, developing design presentations and construction/furniture documentation packages at all submittal levels
Participate in the construction administration of projects including jobsite visits, review of submittals, and responding to contractor questions
Communicate and engage with a wide variety of stakeholders including clients, owners, users, team members, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to achieve overall project objectives
Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and participation in continuouslearning
Help deliver great projects with a sense of energy, passion and personal responsibility!
Education, Technology and Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree from a CIDA accredited Interior Design program
3-5 years of professional experience
Prior experience in an architectural or interior design practice or related field will be given special consideration
Excellent graphic, drawing, and presentation capabilities
Ability and experience in producing quality construction documents, solid understanding of building detailing, construction principles and practices
Commitment to sustainable design principles and interest in achieving accreditation in LEED AP, WELL AP, and/or Green Globes
Proficient level knowledge of Revit, Enscape, Graphic software and Microsoft Office Suite
Additional Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Understanding the requirements of building information modeling for the project
Intermediate level understanding of basic codes, sustainability requirements and their implementation
Intermediate level understanding of building programming
Dedicated to developing his/her professional and leadership skills within the firm
Pursuing and preparing for NCIDQ examination and certification.
Intermediate level understanding of client presentation development, public speaking, and meeting documentation
Physical Requirements
Work is sedentary and often performed in an office setting. Work area is lighted, heated, and ventilated. This position may require extended periods of standing, sitting, as well as some repetitive movements, bending and lifting of minimal weight. We have selected two as common days in the office to nurture collaboration and innovation and to support learning and growth through engagement with colleagues. We are asking everyone to be present on Mondays and Thursdays, with a required third day that will provide additional flexibility and be set established between you and your supervisor (with consideration given to your project team members and clients). Our hope is that this schedule will offer the work-life balance that is desired by all, while providing consistent opportunities for face-to-face collaboration and mentorship.
