Event and Marketing Coordinator Job Description (Part-Time)About Oakland Leaf Oakland Leaf was founded in 2001 by a collective of East Oakland educators intent on empowering youth voice. For the past 20+ years, Oakland Leaf has evolved into a highly regarded leader in the fields of youth development and out-of-school time learning.Oakland Leaf facilitates culturally relevant out-of-school time programming for approximately 1,000 K-12 East Oakland students through seven after school programs at public elementary and middle schools across East Oakland, one paid internship programs for high school students, and two 5-week summer camps - one for elementary children and one for middle school youth. Our programming emphasizes social and emotional learning, creative expression, critical thinking, leadership development, social justice, college and career readiness, and includes a diverse range of enrichment opportunities including S.T.E.M. activities, sports, poetry, visual arts, dance, literacy, community impact projects, and more. Position OverviewThe Event and Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for planning, organizing, and promoting events that raise awareness, foster community engagement, and support fundraising efforts. This role also involves coordinating marketing campaigns, creating content, and managing various social media accounts to enhance our brand presence and engage a broader audience.Specific Duties & responsibilitiesEvent Planning & CoordinationPlan and execute all aspects of fundraising, cultivation, volunteer, and community engagement events, including logistics, budget, vendor coordination, and day-of-event management.Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, catering, decorations, audiovisual needs, Oakland Leaf staff involvement, and event setup.Develop event timelines, manage budgets, and track event expenses to ensure cost-effective planning.Conduct post-event evaluations and prepare reports on event outcomes and attendee feedback.Work with the development team to incorporate donor stewardship strategies into event planning, such as donor recognition at events.Marketing & CommunicationsCreate and implement marketing strategies to promote events, including social media posts, email marketing, website updates, and print materials.Develop compelling and engaging content for social media posts, newsletters, press releases, and/or promotional materials to highlight program impact stories or updates, increase event attendance, and/or brand visibility.Produce graphics and other promotional assets for events and campaigns.Monitor and engage with social media audiences, responding to inquiries and messages to foster community engagement.Coordinate with community partners, vendors, and sponsors to build relationships that support marketing efforts.Additional duties to be determined by the Donor Relations Senior ManagerMinimum QualificationsPassionate about Oakland Leaf's and committed to youth development.Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.Proficiency in social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp).Basic graphic design skills with experience in Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar tools (preferred).Proficiency in CRM (ie. Salesforce) or event management software (e.g., Eventbrite, Salesforce) is a plus.Able to think outside the box to create engaging events and marketing campaigns.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with volunteers, donors, and community partners.Ability to manage complex details and ensure all components of events and marketing efforts align.Works well in a collaborative environment and contributes positively to organizational culture.Education & ExperienceExperience: 2+ years of experience in event planning, marketing, or a similar role, preferably in the nonprofit sector.Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or a related field (preferred but not required).Working conditions/physical demandsNormal office conditionsPartial remote work scheduleOffsite meetingsRequired to work some nights for eventsMust be able to lift up to 25lbCompensation$35,000 to $40,000 Annual Salary , depending on experience Professional Development StipendPaid Holidays and generous paid time off policyTo ApplyTo apply, complete the application on our career page https://oaklandleaffoundation.applytojob.com/.
