Sports Producer/Multi-Media Journalist

General Job Description:

ABC57 in South Bend, Indiana, is seeking an ambitious Sports Multi-Media Journalist.

ABC57 has a strong reputation for covering Notre Dame Football and Basketball through our trademark 'Kickoff' and 'Tipoff' pregame shows. We are looking for a true sports storyteller who knows how to source-build. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, strong writer, knows how to shoot and edit video (including highlights), and can speak intelligently and conversationally on camera.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Pitch, shoot, write, and edit unique sports stories
  • Assist other sports talent with shooting video, including highlights and interviews
  • Executing live shots for yourself and/or teammates
  • Build working relationships with sources, athletes, and coaches
  • Enterprise Notre Dame sports stories
  • Post written and video stories to our website and social media. Also, promote your work on social media.
  • Must travel for sports coverage when needed
  • Work with our Kickoff crew to produce pregame shows
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have the ability to tell great stories through words, pictures, and editing.
  • Must work well with people in a highly energetic environment.
  • Required to work early mornings or late-night shifts.
  • The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, hard worker, and have a great attitude.
  • Computer literacy required including newsroom computer systems.
  • Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred.
  • Must have valid driver's license and the ability to work with minimal supervision
