POLITICO is seeking an experienced Director to lead our

Product and Relationship Marketing Team.

This Director will be part of our

Marketing Department

and will work collaboratively across departments at POLITICO. In this role you will develop our audience growth and product marketing strategies to ensure all customer upsell, cross-sell and retention operations/functions are effective and efficient.

We're looking for a strategic product marketing leader to drive our audience growth across both consumer and professional products through data-driven engagement strategies and compelling product narratives that foster long-term customer relationships. This role will spearhead our customer retention initiatives, developing sophisticated customer journey maps and personalization strategies that enhance lifetime value, while building robust advocacy programs that transform satisfied customers into brand ambassadors through targeted community engagement and loyalty initiatives. You will focus on deepening audience engagement through compelling narratives and customer journeys that drive subscription revenue through increased retention, upsell, and cross-sell rates.

The ideal candidate will bring 8-10+ years of experience in both B2B and B2C marketing environments, with a proven track record of developing retention-focused go-to-market strategies and implementing customer feedback loops that strengthen product adoption in a fast-paced media landscape. Success in this role requires a unique blend of analytical rigor, cross-functional leadership, and the ability to market at the speed of news while maintaining a growth hacking mindset to continuously optimize our market position and deepen customer relationships through innovative retention programs.

What You'll Do:

Drive growth across POLITICO's products through targeted customer segmentation, tailored messaging, and multi-channel engagement for both consumer and professional audiences. Develop compelling product narratives and positioning strategies for both free and subscription products in B2B and B2C markets. Collect and analyze customer data through various research methods to create actionable insights for acquisition and retention strategies. Create comprehensive customer journey maps to identify opportunities for connection and revenue growth across different customer segments. Design and implement customer advocacy programs while building community engagement to reduce acquisition costs and increase retention. Lead cross-functional collaboration between product, sales, editorial, and marketing teams while managing external partnerships to ensure aligned market positioning. What You'll Need:

8-10+ years of digital marketing experience with proven success in both B2B and B2C environments, particularly in media, tech, or SaaS industries; Master's degree preferred. Experience leveraging generative AI tools to enhance customer segmentation, personalize marketing, and optimize content creation across channels. Demonstrated ability to develop compelling product narratives and positioning strategies in competitive subscription media markets, with deep understanding of "marketing at the speed of news." Strong background in customer data analysis and strategy, creating unified customer journey maps, and implementing personalization to enhance lifetime value. Proven track record in establishing customer advocacy programs and developing quarterly go-to-market narratives that drive revenue growth. Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing external partnerships while maintaining a growth hacking mindset for rapid experimentation. Strong leadership and mentorship abilities with a focus on innovation and data-driven decision-making; collegiate athlete background preferred for demonstrated teamwork and dedication.
