13WMAZ In Macon, the TEGNA-owned CBS affiliate, is looking for a Weekday Morning Anchor/Multi-Skilled Journalist who can attract an audience through compelling presentation and produce high-quality journalism. The ideal candidate will have a strong presence on social media and be innovative with ways to grow our reach on digital platforms. We want someone who will embrace the changing landscape of local news and prioritize the creation of digital first content. The successful candidate will be a newsroom leader and team player, capable of lifting our newscasts with a dynamic delivery, excellent interviewing and writing skills, and the ability to clearly and calmly communicate and ad-lib in breaking news or weather situations. Candidate must have the ability to work collaboratively with a co-anchor and other team members. Candidates must be strong journalists, capable of producing memorable enterprise content. All of our anchors turn regular stories and often work as MSJs. We are looking for someone who wants to mentor young journalists. Our anchors are leaders and play a role in big-picture decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Anchor morning and midday newscasts, and fill-in on other shows.
- Deliver stories on-air/digital platforms in an engaging, informative, and conversational manner.
- Excellent use of social media for news gathering/disseminating and community engagement.
- Take a leadership role in newscast content and production.
- Represent 13WMAZ News and its “Straight from the Heart” brand.
- Strong leadership qualities and a desire to help team members grow.
- Knowledge of ENPS and how to help produce a newscast.
- Collaborate with producers, reporters, photojournalists, managers, and other team members.
Requirements:
- Prior reporting experience and demonstrated anchor experience.
- BA/BS in journalism, communications, or related field.
- Ability to handle breaking news situations from the anchor desk and live from the field.
- Knowledge of non-linear editing systems and ability to shoot, write and edit your own packages.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
