Pacific Air Forces Lead Art Specialist - Fort Richardson, Alaska

Summary: This position will be assigned to the Elmendorf Community Services Flights on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. Regular Part-Time employees have a regular and continuous work schedule of at least 30 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Responsibilities:

1. Assists the Manager of the Auto Arts & Craft Center operations.
2. Assumes the role of acting manager if the Manager is on leave or TDY.
3. Provides day-to-day advice and guidance to employees for work assignments; relays instructions from the supervisor; gets the work started and sets the work pace.
4. Demonstrates work methods and provides work-related guidance; ensures that the worksite materials and tools are available.
5. Ensures that employees follow security and safety rules and reports all safety violations to immediate supervisor.
6. Oversees daily activities of employees, including planning, distributing and balancing work; reports to Manager on performance and reviews completed work.
7. Motivates, coaches, trains, and supports the equal opportunity (EEO) program.
8. Prepares cash drawers for shift cashiers and performs complex clerical duties and administrative tasks for the facility.
9. Frames patron artwork or pictures according to work order specifications.
10. Maintains logs, prepares time and attendance cards in SETS.
11. Demonstrates picture framing and matting techniques, including the use of safety practices of shop equipment.
12. Maintains perpetual control on all inventory items associated with the frame shop and orders additional stock as needed.
13. Trains new employees in equipment operations and customer service operations.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Qualifying Experience:

1. Must have progressively responsible experience in the use and general maintenance of miter saws, chop saws, V-nailer, mat cutters, glass cutters, bandsaws, sewing machines, kilns, and measuring devices.
2. Experience in program development in an Arts & Crafts environment is required.
3. Must possess the ability to teach classes in framing, glass crafts, woodworking, fabric crafts, jewelry and/or drawing.
4. Experience in art, graphics, and layout is required.
5. Must have computer knowledge to include Microsoft Office, RecTrac, Inventory, SAIS, and SETS.
6. Must be able to read, write, and speak English, and do basic arithmetic.
7. Must be able to lift 40 pounds without assistance and stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
8. Must satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 Investigation and a pre-employment drug test.

Education: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

Additional Information: Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement.
