PRESS OPERATOR - FLEXOGRAPH PAPER PRINT

WE ARE GRAPHIC PACKAGING INTERNATIONAL in Clarksville, TN

Here’s What You Will Be Doing:

  1. Set up and maintain continuous operation of multi-color flexographic printing press, producing standard quality units of various types and sizes with proper color, coverage, and registration.
  2. Adjust ink flow and replenish inks, wash plates, ink fountains, and ink rollers.
  3. Lubricate, maintain (PM) and clean press according to schedule; clean and change doctor blades.
  4. Mount and/or unmount printing plates and adjust plates for proper registration. Clean plates periodically.
  5. Splice and/or web paper through press.
  6. Remove jams and repair web breaks.
  7. Start and stop machinery, as needed.
  8. Remove rolls from rewind stand, put on proper identification flags, and band rolls.
  9. Inspect paper roll stock for adherence to specifications and reject defective paper.
  10. Work within and adhere to GPI’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork.
  11. Ensure production and distribution of products is consistent with established food safety, sanitation, and quality standards.
  12. Maintain 5S in assigned work area by keeping area and equipment clean and orderly.
  13. Perform all tasks necessary to complete product packaging within their assigned work area.
  14. Recognize problems with machinery and make decisions to stop operation of the machine if needed.
  15. Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks, i.e., basic cleaning of machine, etc.
  16. Segregate spoilage and recyclable items, placing material in appropriate containers.
  17. Ensure that all equipment meets safety standards and is checked routinely throughout the shift.
  18. Manage workload as necessary to ensure production requirements are met as well as shutdown and start-up requirements before and after the completion of the shift.
  19. Communicate effectively with outgoing/incoming shift concerning any issues.
  20. Meet required Key Performance Metrics.
  21. Fulfill overtime requirements as necessary.
  22. Fulfill other duties as assigned; assisting in other areas as required by changing business needs.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Manufacturing experience of 1-2 years.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Press Operator or Press Operator on a heatset web press (offset or flexo), highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude; must have the skills necessary to perform technical tasks.
  • Visual acuity to recognize distinct color.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintains positive team environment.
  • Demonstrates organizational skills and highly detail oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position, with or without accommodation. This includes walking or standing for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours; climbing stairs; lifting up to 50 pounds; carrying up to 30 pounds; lowering up to 30 pounds from a height of 4 feet; pushing up to 250 pounds using carts or other various tools; visual acuity and depth perception; working in various temperatures and humidity levels.
