Our client in Kohler is seeking a Technical Content Editor to add to their team. This person will be responsible for reviewing/editing technical content developed for plumbing products - deliverables to include installation instructions, homeowner guides, servicing instructions, labels and packaging, and animations. Recommends and supports technical communication requirements, standards, and processes for all publications.
May also include project managing assignments related to technical content including cross-function collaboration with engineering, marketing, legal, and digital communications associates.
Responsibilities:
- Review and edit technical content for clarity, punctuation, grammar, and style.
- Provide constructive feedback and support technical communication standards.
- Manage projects related to technical content, collaborating with various departments.
Requirements:
- Fluency in English for both written and verbal skills.
- Experience editing technical content.
- Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with content model and quality standards.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Ability to execute projects independently and adapt to changing priorities.
- Familiarity with the Chicago Manual Style or Gregg Reference Manual.
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, or Technical Communications or 4 years of industry experience.
- At least 4 years of writing and/or editing experience for product and/or software.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to read drawings preferred.
- Experience with XML/DITA and authoring tools preferred.
- Proficiency with Excel spreadsheets required.
- Demonstrated visualization skills.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro, Astoria CMS, Oxygen, Acrolinx, InDesign, Windchill, MS Teams, and Office is preferred.
As part of the interview process, candidates will be asked to complete a Technical Editing test.
This role is hybrid, requiring onsite work in Kohler for part of the week. Initially 6 months with potential for long-term extension. Candidates must have high-speed internet for video conferencing. A laptop with all required software will be provided.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $45-50/hr, based on education, experience, certifications, and location.
