Design Manager - Modular Construction

Company Overview

Representing my client, I am actively seeking a proficient Design Manager for a well-established and financially stable company, thriving since 1930. With strong backing from its parent company, our client maintains a close-knit, transparent culture and boasts high employee retention. All operations, from design to manufacturing, are centralized at a single site.

Role Summary

We're scouting for a seasoned Design Manager with a strong background in leading design teams within modular construction or panelised design. This pivotal role centres on nurturing and empowering a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the safe, sustainable, and coordinated delivery of projects within defined parameters.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead and mentor the design team, fostering cross-functional collaboration.
  2. Drive initiatives to enhance production efficiency, quality, and profitability.
  3. Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations, overseeing CDM compliance as the Principal Designer.

Key Qualifications & Experience

  1. Proven experience as a Design Manager, guiding technical teams throughout project cycles.
  2. Proficiency in modern construction methods and regulations, encompassing CDM, Building Regulations, BREEAM, and NHBC.
  3. Strong command of engineering software (AutoCAD, Revit) within architectural contexts.
  4. Familiarity with light gauge steel frame construction and exposure to Residential, Education, and Defence sectors.
  5. Desirable knowledge of BIM Level 2 environments.

Desired Qualifications

  1. Chartered status or qualifications (RIBA, Meng, RICS) are beneficial.
  2. NEBOSH Certificate or NVQ Level 4 is a plus.

Location & Working Hours

Based in Dorset

Monday to Thursday: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (in the office)
Friday: 8:30 am to 1:00 pm (working from home)

The interview process will commence with a Teams call, followed by a face-to-face interview.
