Main Duties & Responsibilities
Qualifications/Experience desired:
Operates Computer Aided Design (CAD) computer system, including creating, updating and modifying drawings; and performs manual drafting, per Engineering’s requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
- Use Arrow Engine Performance Software to size compressor frame and cylinders to the application.
- Use Compress pressure vessel design software.
- Design and properly size pressure vessels, pipe spools, scrubbers and pulsation bottles meeting requirements of ASME Section VIII and other applicable standards.
- Produce customer and manufacturing drawings of entire compressor package including General Assembly, P&IDs, Skids, Bases, Pipe Spools, Compressor, Compressor Lubrication System.
- Work directly with key vendors for component sizing, quoting and lead time estimation.
- Work with engineers to create quote and shop drawings from supplied specifications and designs.
- Work from customer drawings, company drawings, Government drawings or specifications.
- Create and maintain BOMs within ERP system.
- Work closely with Purchasing in procurement stages of each job.
- Work directly with Shop personnel to advise welders and assemblers as well as ensure overall quality of the package.
- Design parts and assemblies based on written and verbal descriptions from design engineers.
- Designs and performs all drafting in support of sheet-metal components (housing) for the engine side of the business.
- Work closely with all departments in the plant to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information and are error free.
- Create drawings for manuals and engineering projects.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualification/Requirements:
- Associate’s degree or completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Must have at least 10 years of compressor/compressor packaging work experience.
- Knowledge of design and experience in the assembly of compressor packages and sheet-metal housings.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products.
- Must be a self-starter and able to contribute in design reviews.
- Proficient in the use of SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred.
- Knowledge of natural gas compressors and compressor packaging.
- Must be able to read, interpret, and use standards and customer-supplied documentation.
- Able to work with minimum supervision and capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work produced.
- Able to receive and transmit drawings electronically with or without translation into a customer CAD software.
Physical Demands:
- Light physical effort required.
- Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facility.
Work Environment:
Office and shop floor working conditions, with frequent exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold or chemicals.
