The Opportunity
The School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD), in the College of Arts and Humanities (CAH) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 9-month, non-tenure earning instructor or lecturer position in drawing/illustration. The anticipated start date is August 8, 2025.
Candidates must have the ability to show a strong basis in representational drawing and illustration. Student work for drawing should exhibit strong evidence of observational drawing and working from life. Student work for illustration should exhibit a proficiency in traditional and digital media. The successful candidate will teach a 4/4 course load. Teaching load will be split equally between drawing and illustration courses at all levels. In addition to teaching, the candidate must perform departmental and university service at the school, college, and university level.

Minimum Qualifications:
- M.A. (for an instructor) or MFA (Master of Fine Arts or equivalent terminal degree) (for a lecturer) in an appropriate area of specialization from an accredited institution by May 12, 2025.
- Evidence of teaching practice in two-dimensional studio art.
- Active record of work in the applied area of illustration.
- College level teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Evidence of a strong basis in representational and figure drawing with a structural understanding of form.
- Evidence of producing work within the field of illustration utilizing traditional/digital techniques.
- Student work exhibits strong evidence of observational drawing and narrative illustration.

- An unofficial copy of MFA transcript (or equivalent) from an accredited university.
The selected candidate will be required to submit official transcripts (and, as applicable, U.S. degree equivalency evaluations) documenting the conferral of their qualifying academic credentials.
