KENS-TV is the TEGNA-owned CBS affiliate in San Antonio, TX. KENS 5’s morning lifestyle show, Great Day SA, is looking for a highly skilled Multi-Skilled Journalist to join our lively team. We are seeking a creative, artistic photographer and editor who can create unique, shareable content for television. We want a journalist who can edit great stories, write compelling scripts, and be comfortable in front of the camera. Our ideal candidate should be familiar with the latest photography, editing tools, and techniques. Responsibilities:
- Use the latest editing and photography tools to tell great stories, including Adobe Premiere.
- Produce original content on-air that evokes emotion and tells compelling stories.
- Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media to enhance stories.
- Contact sources and develop lifestyle stories that are unique and captivating.
- Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions, and suggest story ideas.
- Edit B-roll for the show.
- Conduct entertaining interviews for the LIVE show.
- Pre-tape and edit fun interviews.
- Perform other tasks as required.
- Use social media and digital tools to research, discover, and distribute content.
- Research story ideas and pitch them to the Executive Producer.
Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience preferred. This is not an entry-level position.
- BA/BS/AAA/AAS in journalism, communications, or related field preferred, or comparable TV work experience.
- Experience in editing, photography, and content management systems.
- Positive attitude and eagerness to solve problems.
- Proven ability to generate creative, engaging, content-driven live shots.
- Must be reliable, dependable, and flexible with schedule.
- Must be a team player.
- Understanding of the ethics of professional journalism.
- Current valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle to and from various locations.
- Must be comfortable in front of the camera, including LIVE interviews.
