Description of College/Department/Program/Division/Unit
The Division of Academic Affairs encompasses a wide array of activities and functions that ensure the overall academic quality of the institution. This includes providing administrative oversight and academic leadership for: the College of Business Administration; the College of Liberal Studies; the College of Science and Health; the School of Education; Murphy Library; Admissions; Records and Registration; Financial Aid; Career Services; Academic Advising; University Graduate Studies; Continuing Education and Extension; the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs; the office of Undergraduate Research and Creativity; the Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning; Institutional Research; and International Education. Academic Affairs also provides leadership and support to the nearly four hundred full-time faculty and instructional academic staff, 73 percent of whom hold terminal degrees. Through its various functions, the Division of Academic Affairs supports students in the pursuit of excellence in undergraduate and graduate education as well as scholarly activity.
Position Summary
Provides a wide variety of professional library services which may include the areas of teaching, learning, public services, circulation, reference, selection, and outreach to support creative exploration, intellectual growth and scholarly pursuits. Provides input on policies and procedures to contribute to services and operations and assist in continual service improvement and innovation.
This is a 50% position with work hours Tuesday through Friday, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
- Teach library instruction and information literacy sessions to undergraduate classes in a variety of disciplines
- Deliver research assistance to patrons at the reference desk, via phone, email, and chat
- Other duties and special projects based on employee skills and library needs
- Will work closely with the Information Literacy and Course Integration librarian and the Technology and Reference Services librarian
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree
- Strong oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with face-to-face instruction or program facilitation in a library or elsewhere (i.e. graduate teaching assistant at university level, K-12 teacher, trainer).
- Experience with reference in an academic library. Interest in the library profession.
