Job Summary
The Electronic Resources and Systems Librarian is a member of the Collection Services Unit and manages the acquisitions side of the Law Library's electronic resources collection development activities while also assisting in the management of Library systems including the library management system and website. The Electronic Resources and Systems Librarian reports to the Assistant Director for Collection Services.
Responsibilities*
- Serves as the point person for electronic resource administration and management in collection development
- Is responsible for continuing e-resources management, including identifying and resolving problems relating to complex electronic serials, databases, and subscriptions
- Is responsible for licensing, managing, and problem-solving for new and existing resources, including outages, statistics, proxy server administration, renewals, and bibliographic data
- Oversees and manages library accessibility processes and procedures related to licensed e-resources
- Assists in managing a variety of Library systems including the library management system, LibGuides, ILLiad, and website
- Participates in the evening and weekend rotation at the information desk
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications*
- Master's degree from an ALA accredited school of information or library science
- Experience with a variety of academic electronic resources and databases
- Staff-side experience with a library management system
- Ability to work evening and weekends at the reference desk on a rotating basis
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience in acquisitions
- Experience in an academic library
- Ability to work with foreign language materials
Additional Information
This is a regular, full-time (12 Month), 100% appointment and is subject to the collective bargaining agreement between the Regents of the University of Michigan and the University of Michigan Lecturer's Employee Organization, AFT Local 6244, AFL-CIO, Librarians, Archivists, and Curators Bargaining Unit.
Salary: minimum $68,000 at the Assistant Librarian level, commensurate with experience and qualifications; benefits worth 28% of salary. Additional support is available for professional development activities.
