Our Gulf Gate Library is currently looking for an experienced full-time Librarian. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, well-equipped in customer service, and has a keen ability to train all ages on the resources our library system provides. This crucial role is responsible for an array of communication, programming, outreach, collection development, maintenance, and administration. In the team environment, employees will participate in setting unit, library, and system goals, and contribute to decision-making and the evaluation of progress. The pay for this position starts at $52,936.00, benefits begin within 60 days of hire, and there are numerous opportunities for advancement. About the Position
Our Librarians are known for customer service, programming, outreach, collection development/maintenance, administration, and staff development. In this role, you will:

1. Develop and implement standards of service that ensure the prompt and efficient resolution of each inquiry, delivered with the utmost respect and courtesy.
2. Promote understanding and use of the library, its technology, and resources by presenting individual and group training programs.
3. Assist customers by locating answers to questions, including Interlibrary Loan services and referrals to agencies outside the library.
4. Keep abreast of developments, new trends, and innovations in libraries.
5. Aid at service desks and to other sections as needed.
6. Represent Sarasota County and the library/library interests to library users and within the community.
7. Prepare reviews, press releases, bibliographies, and other promotional displays.
8. Analyze and identify service population needs, developing and directing plans to meet those needs.
9. Network with other agencies to provide and obtain materials and services.
10. Participate in setting unit, library, and system goals, contributing to decision-making and the evaluation of progress.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Library Science from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association (ALA) or the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Science Professionals (CILIP).
• – OR – Bachelor’s degree and enrolled in an MLS/MLIS program with the ability to obtain an MLS/MLIS within twelve (12) months of hire.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License by date of hire.

About the Schedule
This position is Full-Time, at 40 hours per week. Employees must be available to work based on business needs. Gulf Gate Library Hours of Operation:

Monday – Wednesday: 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Thursday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Friday and Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
This location is currently closed on Sunday, this could change in the future, depending upon business needs.
