This position is an Oakland University Professional Support Association- MEA / NEA position. The incumbent will be represented by the MEA / NEA.

Position Information

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or coordinating role.
  • Familiarity with Makerspace equipment and operations.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in using scheduling and ticketing systems.
  • Possess the keyboarding skills necessary to perform successfully in this position.
  • Ability to perform functions consistent with intermediate word processing and intermediate spreadsheet as demonstrated by a skills assessment.
  • Experience with training and mentoring students is advantageous.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

All qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole discretion may be considered.

Position Purpose:

The Library Makerspace Coordinator will play a vital role in overseeing and coordinating the operations of the Makerspace at Kresge Library. This multifaceted role involves managing scheduling, coordinating hiring processes, training student assistants, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, and providing support to patrons. The Makerspace Coordinator will be responsible for developing new procedures, supervising documentation, evaluating performance, and maintaining inventory. This role also includes marketing duties aimed at increasing awareness, engagement, and usage of library facilities and programs.
