Bay Mills Community College is hiring: Student Employee - Library Assistant in H

Position Summary

The Library Assistant is a student employee position, which is part-time (up to 20 hours per week), at $14 per hour. Any student in at least six credits at BMCC (on-campus or online), with Satisfactory Academic Progress, may be eligible for these positions. This position is IDEAL for a college student because we will support you and your education by working around your school schedule and putting your academic needs FIRST!

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

1. Prepare a virtual story time for pre-school and school aged children.
2. Host story time for pre-school and school aged children who visit the library.
3. Communicate with and provide assistance to all library guests.
4. Utilize basic computer functions for circulation and basic cataloging.
5. Assist in maintaining a well-organized library by shelving, re-organizing, and keeping a neat workspace.
6. Assist in ordering, circulation, and packaging of Inter-Library Loan books.
7. Assist with ACCUPLACER placement testing-scheduling and giving tests for online and/or on-campus students.
8. Communicate with staff, faculty, administration, prospective and continuing students, as well as all other guests.
9. Provide one-on-one tutoring and/or in group setting with library guests.
10. Assist with other duties as assigned.
11. Position may include weekends and evening shifts.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

1. Excellent communication and organizational skills required.
2. Excellent guest service skills required.
3. Excellent computer application skills to include Microsoft Office and recording software.
4. Working knowledge or ability to learn office equipment such as fax machine, copiers, and printers.
5. Respect for the confidentiality of all information received.
6. Demonstrated personal integrity, sound judgement, and dependability.
7. Professional demeanor while representing BMCC.

Eligibility Requirements

1. Must be a degree-seeking student at Bay Mills Community College.
2. Must have Satisfactory Academic Progress as defined in BMCC's Student Handbook:
1. Grade Point Average of 2.0 (cumulative)
2. Successful completion of 67% of credits attempted at BMCC on a cumulative basis.
3. Must be enrolled in at least 6 credits in the semester the paid internship will be awarded.
4. Must have attendance of 70% or higher in all classes.
5. Eligibility requirements must be met at the beginning of each semester.
