Library Student Assistant - Technical Services

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. To be eligible for student employment at UAA, each applicant must:

  1. Be enrolled in UAA with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or
  2. For employment between semesters, have successfully completed six or more UA credit hours in the preceding semester and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester; and
  3. Not work hours which interfere with class attendance; and
  4. Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.

Position Details:

Applicant must be able and prepared to:

  1. Follow instructions closely, pay close attention to detail.
  2. Learn and accurately complete detailed tasks.
  3. Work independently, after training, without direct supervision. Self-motivation and diligence are essential.
  4. Accurately organize materials using various filing systems (call numbers, alphabetical, etc.)
  5. Manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously and work with frequent interruptions.
  6. Communicate clearly and accurately in writing and verbally with patrons and staff.
  7. Be assertive, redirect and give directional information to others.

Required Experience: One year of library experience; or a minimum of one year of work experience requiring attention to detail or organizational skills (such as office, clerical, or inventory management jobs).

This position is located on UAA's main campus in Anchorage, AK. This is a student employee position. Pay is $12.52/hour.

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until a successful candidate is identified. Search and selection procedures will be closed when a sufficient and viable number of qualified candidates have been identified.
