Job Summary:

Student assistant for the Music Department Box Office. The expected start date is February 10, 2025. The student assistant shifts being offered are either Tuesdays and Thursdays OR Monday, Wednesday, and Friday’s. The shifts are from 12 Noon to 3:00 PM.

In addition to the normal office hours shifts, 14 additional shifts are required and part of the job position.

Additional Shifts Requirement:

The applicant is also required to work 14 of the following evening shifts. Details are to be discussed with applicant. Shifts are typically 3 hours and may require some lifting and standing for long periods of time.

  • March 13: Symphonic Band: 6:00-9:00 PM
  • March 25: Music Major Recital: 11:30-1:00 PM
  • March 27: Woodwinds and Brass: 6:00-9:00 PM
  • April 16: Opera: 6:00-9:00 PM
  • April 17: Opera: 6:00-9:00 PM
  • April 23: Composition: 6:00-9:00 PM
  • April 24: Technology: 6:00-9:00 PM
  • April 30: Symphonic Band: 6:00-9:00 PM
  • May 1: Percussion Studio: 11:30-1:00 PM
  • May 5: Small Ensembles: 6:00-9:00 PM
  • May 7: Technology: 6:00-9:00 PM
  • May 8: Orchestra: 6:00-9:00 PM

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the Box Office Window (PA 145) by selling tickets, face to face, and answering questions from customers.
  • The applicant will be cashiering for events by selling tickets, providing customer service to students, faculty, and patrons.
  • Assist the Box Office Manager and staff in performing general office operations to include but not limited to answering phones, reception, filing, copying, on campus deliveries, disseminating poster promotions, word processing, and troubleshooting ticketing program issues.
  • Social media, dissemination of promotional materials, and other office duties as assigned.
  • Must pass a CSUSB background check and the Cash Handling course must be completed by applicant.

Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.
  • As a Bridge Student Assistant, the student need not be registered as a student, but must have been enrolled as a CSU student the previous term and is registered for the following term.

Required Qualifications

  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
  • International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Maintain excellent attendance; be punctual and reliable.
  • Being multilingual is a plus; Spanish is preferred
  • Be self-starter and team player that possess high ethical and confidentiality standards; must be reliable and dependable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, confidently, and clearly with a diverse group of people, face-to-face.
  • Must be detail oriented and can multitask.
  • Understand and perform proper face-to-face patron etiquette, be a people pleaser, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work both in a team or individual environment with a positive and welcoming attitude.
  • Maintain a 2.5 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.

Compensation and Benefits:

Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.50 per hour.

The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.

Position Information:

Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal

Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).

Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).
