Role: PR Assistant for a boutique agency that works with local food and lifestyle businesses
Overview: A passionate and promising Public Relations Assistant to support through various PR-related tasks. The ideal candidate has an interest in the field, takes initiative, keeps up with trends, and understands the importance of tailoring strategies to the client. Good writing and research skills are essential. Being well-organized, adhering to deadlines, and having excellent communication skills are musts in the industry. The ability to facilitate daily operations and take initiative will contribute to the success of PR efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Copywriting for press releases, media alerts, roundups, e-blasts, bios, blurbs
- Assist in organizing, planning and preparation of client events
- Media tracking of coverage and PR metrics
- Maintenance of updated media kits, fact sheets, and bios as needed
- Media interview preparation details and reminders
- Participate in brainstorming and strategizing
- Generate creative pitch angles
- Research for clients ranging from market research, community partnership opportunities, trending news, and more.
- Project coordination: planning and managing PR projects and events
- Client relations to acquire information and assets
- Support with media requests, vendor needs, stakeholders, etc
- Overseeing deadlines and media requests
- Research and reporting
- Managing contact lists
- Managing calendars, calendar reminders
Requirements and Skills:
- Proven experience or minimum 2 years experience in a similar position.
- Understanding of PR and marketing concepts and practices, and the importance of positive brand representation.
- Analytical mind with attention to detail.
- Well-organized and able to work with deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills. Professional phone manners and interpersonal skills.
- Outgoing and confident personality. Polished appearance.
- Exceptional writing skills, understanding of the anatomy of a press release; ideally understands the differences between press release, media alert, pitch and blurb.
- Proficiency in Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms; Dropbox, Canva, Mailchimp, Airtable.
Availability:
Part-time with 40-50 hours per pay period. Opportunity to grow.
Generally accessible Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.
Occasional evening or weekend events typically with advance notice.
Position is remote; however, someone local to Houston is required for in-person event, interview, and/or meeting attendance.
