Description: Hachette Book Group is looking for an energetic, organized, and passionate Marketing & Publicity Assistant to join the team working across the Mobius and Laurence King Publishing lists. The Marketing & Publicity Assistant will report to the Director of Sales and will assist the US based marketing and publicity team.

This is a NYC based role. Effective January 2025, HBG's hybrid model will be 3 days in-office, 2 days working from home.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist senior staff on lead campaigns including but not limited to:

1. building media and partnership lists
2. pitching media and brand partnerships
3. creating tour schedules, scheduling travel, and arranging author escorts
4. writing press releases and pitch letters
5. preparing promotional materials, both digital and print
6. coordinating mailings
7. maintaining the shared content calendar for social media, newsletters, and campaigns
8. assisting on social media influencer outreach and campaigns, plus engagement management
9. researching social media trends

Independently own and manage publicity campaigns for select books, gifts, games, and puzzles. Administrative tasks include: creation of seasonal schedules, maintenance of the department digital filing system, managing budget tracking, note-taking at meetings. Assist in preparation and attend New York NOW trade shows.

Requirements: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. College degree, or equivalent work experience
2. Prior publicity or public relations experience through coursework, part-time work, or internships is preferred
3. Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
4. Excellent organizational skills
5. Strong time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects across teams, with a focus on details and deadlines
6. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
7. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
8. Proficiency with multiple social media platforms and management tools
9. Familiarity with design platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
10. Familiarity with online programs such as Canva, Muckrack, AdEspresso, Mailchimp, and Squarespace is a plus
11. Interest in book publishing is essential
