The San Antonio Report is seeking an energetic and curious reporter to lead an expansion into lifestyle journalism under our Live Like a Local brand, with an emphasis on covering the unique culinary scene and culture that makes San Antonio a special place to live and visit.

You will be responsible for producing high-quality, engaging and informative stories that resonate with our audience. You will work closely with our editorial team to brainstorm ideas, conduct research and write articles that are both informative and entertaining. The successful candidate will have excellent writing skills, a strong understanding of SEO best practices and the ability to meet tight deadlines. You should be able to adapt your writing style to suit different platforms and audiences, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. SKILL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Write and edit high-quality articles.
2. Conduct thorough research to ensure accuracy and credibility.
3. Collaborate with the editorial team to brainstorm and develop new story ideas.
4. A proven track record of optimizing content for SEO to increase visibility and engagement.
5. A proven track record in growing audience in features and/or beat reporting.
6. Meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
7. Experience in adapting writing style to suit different platforms and audiences.
8. Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in the city’s culinary scene as well as the media industry.
9. Proofread and edit content to ensure it is free of errors and meets editorial standards.
10. Use analytics tools to track the performance of stories and make data-driven decisions.
11. Attend events and conduct interviews to gather information for articles.
12. Develop strong source relationships and generate untold or unique story ideas in the San Antonio culinary and culture spaces.
13. Maintain a consistent standard of quality and tone across all coverage.
14. Willingness to work closely with editors and other colleagues in shaping the best stories for our audience.
15. Schedule flexibility (some night and weekend work).
16. Spanish proficiency is a plus.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field.

The starting salary range for this position is estimated at $50,000 - $60,000. Some of the benefits employees enjoy are generous personal time off, 10 paid holidays, health benefits, a 401(k) plan, and paid parental leave.
