Wondery is looking for a Sr Content Acquisition and Partnerships Manager to join the Partnerships team in Los Angeles. Reporting to the Head of Partnerships (North America), this leader will be responsible for securing and overseeing podcast and talent partnerships for Wondery.
This position requires a strategic thinker who can identify, evaluate, and negotiate high-level partnership deals with podcasters and talent (e.g., New Heights, Armchair Expert, MrBallen, Keke Palmer). This role will be responsible for securing partners and structuring innovative deals that drive value across Wondery (e.g., ad sales, subscriptions, licensing, consumer products) as well as bringing high-impact across the Amazon ecosystem (e.g., Prime Video, Audible, Twitch, Games, Prime, Amazon Music). Key responsibilities include sourcing new podcast partners, analyzing data to build detailed financial models, presenting to C-suite executives, leading complex negotiations, and managing all deal-related matters during the lifecycle of a partnership. The ideal candidate will possess both an entertainment background working directly with talent and representatives as well as a business background analyzing deals and negotiating complex contracts. This role must be able to earn trust both internally and externally in order work cross-functionally with stakeholders across Wondery and Amazon affiliates as well as maneuver complex external relationships.
Key job responsibilities

Develop and manage strategic relationships with partner shows and talent.

Proactively recruit new partner shows and talent to be part of the Wondery network.

Work with all Wondery stakeholders (Exec Team, Sales Team, Content Team, Marketing Team) to develop and refine Wondery’s ongoing strategy and target list for new partner shows.

Set goals and roadmap for partner shows, looking at genres / categories, audience segments, size of shows, monetization opportunity, etc. to meet Wondery’s goals and related success metrics, including growth in revenue, monthly downloads, and unique listeners.

Maintain the Wondery+ and partner show content pipeline, ensuring a steady cadence of hit shows for listeners.

Stay abreast of industry news, emerging trends, competitive landscape and offerings, audio platforms, podcast landscape as well as top and emerging shows in all categories.

Attend industry conferences as required to develop industry relationships.

Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; ability to present up to C-level executives and gain buy-in.

Basic Qualifications

6+ years of account management, business development, content licensing or finance experience

Experience with Excel

Experience with end-to-end ownership of major project deliverables

Experience working with top talent, content partners, and/or publishers

Experience negotiating and closing complex deals

Experience creating and implementing new deal structures without precedent
Preferred Qualifications

Previous podcasting experience preferred but not necessary

Financial acumen and ability to create complex financial models

Extensive experience in content acquisition, preferably in the podcast or digital media industry

Passionate about podcasting, digital content and talent; curiousity about new business and distribution models

Understanding of audio apps and platforms as well as a willingness to dive deep into audio-specific performance tracking

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $189,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
