Summary
This position is located the Unites States Agency for Global Media, within Voice of America, East Asia and Pacific (EAP) Division. The incumbent will serve as the Managing Editor for the VOA Lao Service with overall responsibility for conceiving and directing the development and production of the daily broadcast for radio and the Internet. Incumbent will lead and manage writers, reporters, broadcasters, and producers both in Laos, the EAP region, and the U.S. to create appropriate content.

Duties
As a Managing Editor (Lao), you will be responsible for duties to include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinates the work of writers, reporters, and producers involved in preparation and production of materials for presentation by radio, Internet and mobile.
- Reviews and evaluates news sources and developments to identify items for coverage by staff.
- Oversees the management of daily radio program production process, as well as the content for its related digital presence.
- Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
- Identify developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training.
- Hosts live airshow, and updates material as warranted for each successive broadcast within a block of programming.
Conditions of Employment
- You must be a U.S Citizen or U.S. National.
- Candidates MUST meet all qualification requirements by closing date.
- This is a national security position. If selected, this position requires the completion of the SF-86.
- Suitability Determination: If selected, you may be subject to a background investigation to establish your suitability for federal employment. The background investigation may include, among other aspects, a review of your credit and legal history.
- This position is not covered by a Union Agreement.
- This position has been designated supervisory requiring that the selectee on an initial appointment as a supervisor or manager serve a one-year probationary period.
- The full performance grade level for this position is GS-13.
- This position may require working nights, weekends, and holidays.
- If you are a male applicant who is born after 12/31/59, you are required to be registered for the Selective Service.

- Experience with managing the workings of Lao's broadcast and digital news effort targeted to Lao audiences.
- Experience with adjusting assignments to staff to meet changing circumstances and to ensure that specific responsibilities.
- Experience covering a variety of topics concerning Laos; such as international relations, economics, culture, and socio-political development.
