HDR is looking for a Transportation Planner to join our North Carolina Area Transportation Business Group. This role will be based out of the following North Carolina offices: Raleigh-NC, Charlotte-NC, Winston-Salem-NC, or Wilmington-NC.

In this role, we'll count on you to:

1. Work as part of a multimodal transportation planning team under the direction of the Project Engineer/Manager on a variety of transportation (primarily highway and freight rail) planning, client advisory, and support needs.
2. Provide, as part of a national team, advisory support services to rail industry stakeholders related to federal funding opportunities, including planning and grant documentation.
3. Utilize GIS to conduct various analyses and data collection, assist with preparation of feasibility studies, corridor studies, bicycle and pedestrian plans, and other transportation planning documentation and technical studies.
4. Assist with project documentation and management needs.
5. Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Public Policy, Political Science, or related field.
2. Computer skills using Microsoft Office and a variety of web-based media sharing platforms.
3. Demonstrable applied interest in transportation infrastructure development.
4. Strong verbal and written skills; strong organization and communication skills.
5. Ability to multitask while working on many projects at once.
6. ArcMap and ArcPro GIS experience.
7. Interest in and understanding of the US transportation system and rail industry, including passenger and freight.
8. Local candidates are preferred.
