Job Description

The Water DB Project Developer/Business Development will manage the identification, development, relationship building, and capture of Water DB projects. In this role, he or she will be responsible for all aspects of project development from client identification through the capture process. These responsibilities include identification of opportunities, preparation of business development plans and strategies; creation and cultivation of client, partner and internal AECOM business relationships; management of the client/project pursuit and capture process including management of day-to-day activities, generation of proposal content; provide training to technical and regional AECOM staff; and participate in professional organizations and conferences.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Planning and Strategy

  • Develop, articulate and execute a strategy to increase the identification of Design Build opportunities in North America (i.e. fill the pipeline).
  • Assist the National Water Business Line with developing and executing regional and area DB marketing and strategic plans in conjunction with the Regional Business Unit Leaders (RBLL) and Area Business Unit Leaders (BUL).

Relationships

  • Develop new client, partner and internal relationships that result in DB leads/opportunities. Maintain existing relationships.
  • Develop personal relationships with key leadership within strategic clients
  • Work closely with RBLL’s and BULs, maintain a high local and regional profile.
  • Assist regional project developers in developing/maintaining relationships.

Pursuits

  • Provides leadership in identifying clients and pursuits.
  • Develop and implement specific strategic pursuit plans.
  • Serve as Capture Manager on key water and wastewater pursuits.
  • Assist Capture Manager on major Water Resources pursuits

Training

  • Develop workshops/training presentations for existing/potential clients, area/regional personnel, with RBLLs and other project developers.
  • Assist other project developers in delivering workshops.

Conferences/Organization

  • Participate in national and regional organization/associations.
  • Attend conferences and workshops to strengthen existing client relationships and establish new relationships.

Qualifications:
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (business, marketing, engineer, construction management etc.)
  • Experience – Minimum 10 years of progressive marketing/business development experience
  • Proven track record of client development and strategic relationship capabilities
  • Skills, knowledge and abilities – Ability to engage with senior technical and management staff to obtain necessary information and commitment for a specific effort; leadership skills –creativity and sound management of “must win” and other marketing efforts;

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • 15+ years water industry experience
  • Extensive knowledge of municipal water market. Knowledge of North American market a plus
  • Ability to broad scan other water related end markets and to assist in strategy development
  • Agile response to fast paced, complex work environment and organizational change
