The Writer/Editor is part of the Marketing Communications team within the Advancement Division at Saint Mary's College. This integrated team is responsible for sharing the Saint Mary's College story and leads both internal and external communication, promoting activities of faculty, staff and students, while keeping donors, alumni, prospective students, media and the community up to date on the College.
The Writer/Editor position will focus on writing and editing assigned content for Avenues, the Saint Mary's College Magazine, as well as articles for the College's website (saintmarys.edu), social media channels and other marketing/communications projects, and conduct regular meeting with representatives from various college departments to develop story and content ideas. The role requires a motivated individual who thrives in a creative environment and can handle multiple responsibilities effectively.
This position is full-time, on-campus in Notre Dame, Indiana.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree required
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading and editing for grammar and punctuation, and production editorial skills
- Four years of writing and/or copy-editing experience, or progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in management, publications design and editing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong research skills and an ability to write quickly, clearly, persuasively, and accurately on a range of subjects related to an institution of higher education is required.
- One to three years of related and strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask while working independently and collaboratively with other publication team staff
- Ability to interact professionally and constructively with students and staff at all levels in an immersive, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with website content management systems (CMS)
- Working knowledge of HTML, the Adobe Creative Suite, digital asset management, and Trello
