Description:

The Drupal Web Developer is responsible for building, maintaining, and enhancing the organization's digital infrastructure, including multiple websites, online products, and associated integrations. This role combines hands-on development expertise, systems administration, and leadership skills to move projects from conception to completion. The role also requires thorough documentation of system and application functionality, technical specifications, integration solutions, and reference architecture to support scalability and consistency across platforms.

A successful candidate will be highly proficient in program management, capable of crafting detailed project plans and schedules, and comfortable working collaboratively in a team-driven, nonprofit environment.

Responsibilities:

This role is essential to the success of our digital strategy and plays a significant part in achieving the organization’s broader mission.

  1. Oversee existing code bases' architecture and technical development, suggesting enhancements and implementing new features.
  2. Develop custom code for Drupal websites and configure them to meet diverse programmatic needs while ensuring security and performance standards are met.
  3. Manage integration and data flow between Conservancy and partner websites through APIs and other technical solutions.
  4. Create responsive, scalable web experiences optimized for multiple devices and platforms, including custom web pages, microsites, and responsive email templates.
  5. Support e-commerce initiatives by managing Shopify stores and creating promotional materials such as emails and lightboxes.
  6. Integrate volunteer database functionalities to streamline data accessibility and improve workflows.
  7. Document and train Conservancy staff on how to use content management, CRM, and project management tools.
  8. Create runbooks and instructional material for Conservancy staff.
  9. Maintain a customer service focus in all IT and project management aspects.

Technical Expertise:

  • Drupal: versions 7, 8, 10
  • Drupal migration to version 10
  • Proficiency in web development technologies:
    • PHP
    • HTML5
    • CSS
    • jQuery
  • Linux security experience, including implementing security fixes and software upgrades.
  • Experience managing APIs, data integrations, and cross-platform functionality.
