Job Description:

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Writer

 

The Writer will play a pivotal role in supporting Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s efforts to deliver accurate, accessible, and impactful health information to diverse audiences. This role focuses on creating, editing, and managing disease guides and related community education content. The Writer will collaborate with subject-matter experts, clinical leaders, marketing and communication teams, and other stakeholders to ensure the organization’s health content is clear, consistent, and audience-focused.

 

Role Overview

 

Content Development and Editing

 

  • Write, edit, and proofread disease guides and other health-related content, ensuring adherence to plain language principles and health literacy best practices.
  • Lead the migration of existing disease guide content to an updated format, ensuring a seamless user experience.
  • Translate complex medical information into accessible, patient-centered language. Identify outdated or inaccurate content, recommend revisions, and implement updates.
  • Conduct literature reviews and research to ensure the accuracy and credibility of health information.
  • Ensure alignment with current clinical guidelines, evidence-based practices, and organizational priorities.
  • Uphold editorial consistency, quality, and accuracy through rigorous fact-checking and peer reviews.
  • Ensure all content aligns with the organization’s style guide, brand voice, and tone

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

 

  • Liaise with subject-matter experts, clinical teams, marketing and communication teams, and other stakeholders to gather input, secure approvals, and ensure content accuracy and relevance.
  • Maintain an effective feedback loop with stakeholders to enhance content quality and ensure timely delivery of projects.
  • Partner with designers, developers, and digital teams to optimize content.

Learning and Knowledge-Sharing

 

  • Stay informed on industry trends, plain language guidelines, and best practices in digital health communication.
  • Share insights and resources with team members to strengthen overall content strategy and execution, participating in monthly Journal Club.

Key Qualifications

  • Expertise in written and verbal communication with an emphasis on clarity and impact.
  • Familiarity with SEO practices and strong copy-editing skills (preferred).
  • Ability to present complex topics in accessible terms for diverse audiences.
  • Collaborative, solution-oriented mindset with excellent stakeholder management abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Create and update web content, including profiles, programs, and departmental materials.
  • Engage stakeholders to ensure content accuracy and alignment with priorities.
  • Manage content projects from initiation to delivery, meeting timelines and goals.
  • Establish workflows for sourcing and maintaining differentiating MSK content.
  • Measure and report content effectiveness to support team and departmental objectives.

  • Schedule: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST, Monday – Friday
  • Location: Hybrid, On Site as needed at 633 Third Ave, New York, NY
  • Reporting to: Associate Director, Community Education & Evidence-Based Practice
  • Pay Range: $88,800.00-$142,200.00
