Able to craft and edit educational content for various types of risk management materials ? Can research current and emerging healthcare risk management issues? Excellent writer and editor? Familiar with instructional design methods, adult learning theory, e-learning best practices? Live in Chicagoland area? Hybrid role includes in-person attendance at the office once every 2 weeks, subject to change. Our long-term Medical Insurance client, located in downtown Chicago, seeks Educational Content Writer & Editor. Candidate will craft and edit educational content for risk management materials. Research current/emerging healthcare risk management issues. Serve as division-wide resource for writing and editing. Medical Insurance company is a Chicago based national professional liability insurance firm; provides insurance coverage for healthcare professionals, small healthcare facilities, APRNs, PAs, other allied healthcare professionals, etc. Background: Bachelor’s degree required. 2-3+ years’ experience writing in a professional capacity within healthcare risk management and patient safety. Excellent written and editing skills. Writing samples required. Demonstrated proof of professional technical writing. Facile research skills. Able to synthesize data into actionable recommendations. Familiar with instructional design methods, adult learning theory, e-learning best practices and evaluation methods. Comfortable working within an iterative design process. Can adjust to changing demands of the position. Experience working with online learning portals and learning management systems. Familiar with basic HTML a plus. Organized. Responds to feedback from stakeholders. Possesses high degree of independence, self-motivation, organizational, time, and project management skills. Operates comfortably with some level of ambiguity. Helps to actualize various instructions and visions. Learns new technologies and software as required. Effectively presents information. Expresses clear and concise ideas, orally and in writing. Very good listener. Open to feedback. Interested in and can manage long-term projects. Projects professional, service-oriented, approachable attitude while working with wide variety of personalities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Responsibilities: Candidate will write content for risk management offerings, including online coursework, resource library entries, live events and marketing materials. Primary responsibilities: Demonstrate exemplary writing and editing skills. 70% of time is spent on writing. Develop relevant and engaging content by making content easily consumable. Deliverables: Online text-based courses, resource library articles, written interviews, other web-based content, promotional emails, session descriptions, etc. Frequently work on new types of projects. Target audiences: Healthcare professionals, brokers, practice managers, risk managers, medical office staff. Employ intuitive and ethical research techniques and leverage technology where appropriate. Communicate clearly, concisely and persuasively. Conduct ongoing needs assessment. Work with members of risk management division to actualize content into final materials. Collaborate with outside faculty, subject matter experts and other divisions in writing content. Provide phone and written risk management consultation in response to questions from policyholders, office staff, and internal staff members. Representative of company’s voice and established editorial styles. Actively problem solves. Additional duties/responsibilities as required. Breakdown of time spent: 70%: Writing 30%: Research, brainstorming, thought leadership, review/edit others content, team meetings Compensation and Benefits: Pay range estimated between $75,000 – $85,000 per year for residents of the greater Chicagoland area.* Company has a robust benefit package.
