A successful candidate will have the following:
FH is seeking an experienced Proposal Writer to help secure funding and resources from public funders to carry out FH’s mission and strategic priorities by writing compelling, competitive, compliant proposals and providing other writing support as needed. We are looking for someone who has at least 5 years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree in business development, international development, and/or humanitarian assistance. An advanced degree is preferred; and:
- A vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a Christian commitment to serving the poor, and in full agreement with FH’s Christian beliefs.
- Excellent writing skills in English, with the ability to straightforwardly communicate complex ideas.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound judgments and work independently in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills for working effectively in a multicultural, international team environment.
What you’ll do…
As the Proposal Writer, some of the responsibilities will be:
- Serve as the lead writer on proposals and concept notes, with a focus on large, complex, high priority bids such as multi-million bids to USAID. Serving as lead writer involves taking the lead in writing most of the technical proposal; actively participating in technical design meetings; collecting input from technical design leads, country office staff, section writers, partners, consultants, and others and incorporating input into a cohesive draft; revising drafts based on reviewer feedback; and ensuring the technical proposal is compliant, competitive, consistent, and written in a single, compelling voice.
- Serve as a supporting writer, reviewer, and editor as needed on proposals and concept notes where other team members serve as the leader writer. Provide capacity building on proposal writing to other team members as relevant.
- Provide other writing support as needed. This might include drafting responses to USAID “requests for information” and developing capacity statements and marketing materials.
