Audio Visual Design Engineer
for our
Technology & AV Solutions Team
– to be based out of our Charlotte, Raleigh, or Greenville (SC) locations.

The
Design Engineer’s
main function is to provide pre-sales support by serving as a technical consultant to the sale team, generating functional system descriptions, system flow diagrams, and equipment lists to enable generation of customer proposals. This role is also leveraged by the post-sales team for project engineering and/or ongoing project consultation. In addition, the Design Engineer reviews and validates the work of technical sales team members operating at the local level.

Responsibilities include: Translating customer requirements into functional system designs. Reviewing pre-construction design and documentation. Providing technical design assistance and level of effort needed by estimating hours and highlighting logistical challenges for the sales team to consider while pricing the opportunity. Generating functional system descriptions and system / data flow diagrams. Developing engineering and architectural (RCP/Floor Plan) drawings, calculation, acoustical modeling, or other data as required. Identifying all cabling and miscellaneous material needs. Assisting the Account Manager with labor and material estimates for projects. Assuming ownership of project engineering onsite when required. Supporting user acceptance testing. Meeting with vendors/prospective vendors to help evaluate product as requested. Designing wall plates and overlays. Providing ongoing engineering support and assisting with project sign-off.
Required Qualifications & Skills include: Ability to effectively communicate and interact with internal employees, clients, and partners in a professional and timely manner. Proven business writing skills. Proficiency in using test and calibration equipment. Understanding of basic IP networking and AV system schematics. Ability to diagnose complex system problems. Advanced computer skills as required for the design, configuration, and operation of AV equipment. Ability to work and think independently and ensuring to meet deadlines. Valid Driver’s License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets PMC driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills include: 5+ years of Audiovisual experience. Formal education in Electronics or a related field. Experience with Enterprise VC / UCC solutions (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Bluejeans, and Cisco Telepresence etc.) – both hardware and software. AVIXA General CTS (Certified Technical Specialist) & CTS-D (Certified Technical Specialist – Design).
