Job Title: Senior UX Engineer Position: 6-12 month contract to hire Location: Raleigh, NC (hybrid 3-4 days onsite/week)

Summary: Applies a solid understanding of standard user experience (UX) design principles, techniques, procedures, and criteria toward the development of new or enhanced software products or processes. Plans, executes, and functionally directs important UX assignments requiring independent judgment. Demonstrates strong visual design and branding expertise, including experience creating and executing a design language system (DLS) in Figma. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Create user-friendly interface designs, adhering to established UI design standards and practices, including W3C guidelines, Google Material Design guidelines, Apple Human Interface Guidelines, and Android Design Guidelines. Participate in customer interviews, interactions, and other user research to identify customer needs and preferences. Develop UI prototypes, which may be utilized for testing or marketing purposes. Conduct usability research, including creating test plans and scripts, moderating usability test sessions, and producing detailed final reports. Document user experience designs and specifications in a clear and structured format. Provide UX and design recommendations to cross-functional teams, leveraging expertise to suggest product and process improvements. Act independently with minimal supervision to execute tasks effectively. Utilize project team methodologies and tools to manage work and communicate across teams and specialties.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Required qualifications include: A solid understanding of UX design principles. Proficiency in UI design and prototyping tools, particularly advanced Figma skills, including creating and using components, variables, auto-layout, and themes. Passion for improving user experiences with the ability to advocate for users and UX best practices. Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain and document UI designs and decisions both verbally and in written form. Ability to collaborate effectively with team members on design projects. Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with software development project teams. Desired: Experience with medical devices or other regulated disciplines. Background and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors or a related field, or equivalent experience. Three to five years of related work experience.
