Women's RTW Assistant Designer

AG Jeans is looking for an Assistant Designer to support the women’s ready-to-wear team. The Assistant Designer would assist with the design and development of collections that are consistent with the seasonal direction.
This position reports to the Sr Designer. The candidate will have the rare opportunity to learn and be a part of a fully vertical design development process. In addition to our robust denim business, we also have a growing ready-to-wear line that is sold in our retail stores as well as most department stores
***This is a fully on-site position
Responsibilities : Help the Sr Designer with seasonal concept boards and ideas Sketch out styles both by hand and on illustrator Create and keep up to date the seasonal linesheets and development trackers Can create initial TPs and update as needed with changes Work closely with pattern, cutting, sewing, dye and wash house to develop styles Handle all seasonal labdips with in house dye house Communicate all changes with appropriate departments Work closely with fabric department to track sample yardages, assign fabric codes, style numbers and wash names Create cut tickets and keep track of the progression of the style within departments
About the candidate : We would like someone who has a passion for clothes and who aspires to be a designer. The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-motivated, has excellent communication skills and possesses a positive attitude. He/She must also work well under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Most importantly, this candidate must be technically strong with computer work (flats, Tech Packs, charts)
Requirements : Strong background in Cut & Sew Knits and Soft Wovens Understands and is interested in the product development process Technically strong with computer work (flats, Tech Packs, charts) Highly organized, strong attention to details and can execute and follow through on multiple tasks simultaneously Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills Works well under pressure and thrives in a fast-paced environment Strong interpersonal skills Possesses a positive attitude and is self-motivated
Experience and Education Requirements : Degree in Fashion Design or related work experience Minimum 1 year of assistant design experience Must have knowledge of garment construction and BOM Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design and Acrobat) and MS Office Skilled in both hand sketch flats as well as Illustrator flat
