Role Overview:

As the Design Manager at a Senior Manager level in our solar company, you will lead the design and engineering teams in developing innovative, efficient, and cost-effective solar power solutions. You will ensure the technical feasibility, regulatory compliance, and performance optimization of solar energy systems for residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects. This leadership role requires technical expertise, strategic thinking, and exceptional project management skills to deliver world-class solar designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Team Management:
    Oversee and mentor a team of design engineers and CAD professionals, ensuring high-quality output and professional development.
    Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project management, procurement, construction, and operations to ensure seamless project execution.
  2. System Design and Development:
    Lead the design process for solar PV systems, including layout, electrical schematics, and structural configurations.
    Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards (e.g., NEC, IEC), and regulations.
    Optimize designs to maximize energy yield, reduce costs, and enhance system reliability.
  3. Project Planning and Coordination:
    Work closely with project stakeholders to develop design schedules and meet deadlines.
    Support feasibility studies, technical due diligence, and site assessments.
  4. Innovation and Technology Integration:
    Research and integrate emerging solar technologies, tools, and software to enhance system performance.
    Identify opportunities for innovation in design to support the company’s sustainability and profitability goals.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement:
    Act as the technical expert during client meetings, presentations, and proposal development.
    Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to resolve technical challenges.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in solar design and engineering, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Proficiency in solar design software (e.g., PVsyst, AutoCAD, HelioScope) and familiarity with GIS tools.
  • Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, including electrical and structural components.
  • Understanding of grid interconnection, energy storage systems, and hybrid solutions.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
