POSITION SUMMARY
The Test Technician and Tech Writer role is responsible for product testing and technical documentation. In this role, individuals perform and document various testing of products, materials, and coatings per established policies and procedures. Additionally, these individuals will use engineering CAD data to develop installation and maintenance documents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Testing Duties
- Perform testing on products based on the IPEMA program.
- Perform testing on products, materials, and coatings based on industry standards and internal processes including structural integrity, cyclical, UV, corrosion, and other durability tests.
- Design and build testing equipment for product durability.
- Document test results.
- Answer questions and concerns that relate to installation and safety standards from various departments, representatives, and installers.
Tech Writing Duties
- Create Engineering Change Orders based on non-compliance issues and product improvements.
- Revises existing installation and playground maintenance documents in accordance with approved ECO forms to provide accurate installation data for existing products.
- Develop detailed installation and maintenance documents in accordance with Product Release using standard formatting and providing accurate installation data for new products.
- Other duties as assigned.
ATTRIBUTES
Knowledge of safety standards including ASTM F1487, CPSC, CSA Z641, and EN 1176.
Computer skills including Word, Excel, Windows, Adobe Reader & Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, AX, SolidWorks, and Lotus Notes
Know how to use various equipment and tools including scanner, basic measuring tools, optical comparator, forklift, taber abraser, lathe, mill and drill press, weather chamber, spectrophotometer, salt fog chamber, welder, enerpac / cycle tester, Triax drop tester.
Excellent English language skills – spelling, punctuation, grammar and usage.
Ability to read, write and interpret a wide variety of technical documents and document types.
Strong interpersonal skills in working with Project Teams to complete tasks in a timely manner.
Recommends changes in testing methods
Recommends changes on equipment design
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to perform inspections using various measuring tools
- NPSI Certified
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.

The target hourly range is $30.00 - $33.00, depending upon qualifications and experience. Expanded pay ranges may be available for growth and advancement opportunities. In addition to hourly pay, the compensation package also includes eligibility for a profit-sharing opportunity.
