Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst

Job Summary: This position offers the opportunity to apply GIS expertise to a diverse range of projects, from supporting USMC range training and safety to contributing to US Navy environmental analysis and NEPA compliance documents. The candidate must be able to multi-task effectively to accommodate various simultaneous and diverse efforts for both the US Navy and USMC. Tasks may include environmental analysis mapping and data support, regional mapping, developing/maintaining web maps, and publishing data to the ArcGIS Portal. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Develop maps for planning and environmental documents. Apply knowledge of cartographic and GIS data standards in project execution. Interpret military operations (MilOps) terminology and apply it to geospatial mapping and analysis. Utilize Spatial Data Standards for Facilities Infrastructure and Environment (SDSFIE). Use Range Manager’s Tool Kit (RMTK) for surface and weapons danger zone (SDZ/WDZ) development/mapping. Collaborate with both independent and team-based work in a high-production environment. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or technical certificate in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, IT, or a related field. Two (2) or more years of relevant professional experience. Two (2) or more years of experience using ArcGIS/ArcPro. Two (2) or more years of experience with GPS data field collection and post-processing. Must have a valid passport and be able to travel within and outside the United States (Up to 25%). Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with NGA map templates and data standards. Knowledge of USMC or US Navy training requirements. Strong time management and follow-through skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects with tight deadlines. Familiarity with Python scripting to perform GIS analysis and automate GIS processes. Experience with ArcGIS Portal and web-map development. Self-motivated with a strong initiative. Detail-oriented and resourceful. Ability to work well independently and with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Clearance Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance within one year of starting this position. Physical Requirements: Ability to remain stationary for 50% of the time. Occasional movement within the office for communication and accessing resources. Constantly operate a computer and other office machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer. Frequently communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations and exchanging accurate information.
