Position Summary
Under direction, processes and shelves library materials; cataloging, classifying, circulating, and maintaining library materials; issues identification cards for students, faculty, and carries out procedures and maintains records regarding the borrowing of library materials, orders and receives library materials and maintains records, assists library users, enters classification of library materials and performs administrative and support services. Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate personnel. This position will be a 30 hour week position.
Salary: Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule H30; Rank 12: (Salary range: $24,948 - $31,591).

Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. - Provide search and location of materials and information to students, college personnel, or visitors in a manner evidencing cordiality
- Check out/in materials to library users
- Responsible for shelving and inventorying collection materials
- Responsible for assessing, collecting, and depositing fines and fees
- Responsible for entering data into the Elevate system
- Issue identification cards for students, faculty, and staff
- Responsible for promoting library services and resources
- Communicate with the Director on needs and area concerns
- Communicate with acquisitions assistant to maintain inventory of supplies
- Perform general clerical duties requiring the exercise of tact, judgment, and discretion
- Required to attend professional development trainings
- Responsible for area displays and department presence
- Perform other duties as requested by appropriate supervisor
- Learn the operating policies, procedures, and methods of a college library
- Knowledge of college policies and procedures
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Ability to establish priorities and work without close supervision
- Skilled in the use Microsoft Office applications to include, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Reading skills to understand directives, policies, procedures, administrative handbooks and similar material
- Math skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using decimals
- Writing skills to prepare or assist in the writing of correspondence, reports, and related documents
- Listening skills to comprehend instructions
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates degree from an accredited institution is required.
- A minimum of two (2) years of clerical experience is required.
- Knowledge of computer software applications and office machines is required.
- Demonstration of effective oral and written communication skills is required.
- Work experience in a library environment is preferred.
