The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Training and Certification team is seeking an experienced, driven, and collaborative Technical Editor to create and drive quality standards while editing AWS technical certifications in a rapidly evolving and expanding landscape for global delivery. The ideal candidate will have experience in exam development, have experience editing technical content, be detail driven, and be able to drive consistency and unity across multiple content deliverables. Working with Exam Development Program Managers and Subject Matter Experts on the team, you will use the editorial process to ensure a high-quality content experience.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the editing process, ensuring multiple quality checks for organization, clarity of content, technical accuracy, and style.
- Manage and maintain an internal style guide and word lists for group use.
- Implement changes to content to align with internal style rules.
- Manage editing schedules and workflows, work with internal stakeholders to adjust priorities and schedules as needed, and communicate timelines.
- Periodically audit and review exam items to determine whether format or content changes/updates are required.
- Remain current on new developments in technical writing, editing and publishing, including technological enhancements that may affect the company.
- Facilitate and assist with exam development workshops (as needed).
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Technical Communication, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience editing content using/managing a style guide.
- 3+ years of experience editing technical content (exam content preferred) OR 3+ years of experience editing exam content (technical content preferred).
- 3+ years of experience managing multiple projects and setting their schedules and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience editing highly technical developer or systems administration documentation.
- Experience with web services and related technologies.
- Experience editing high-stakes exam content.
- Knowledge of psychometric principles.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $64,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $137,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
