Jerry Falwell Library Faculty librarians are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that faculty model a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University as well as support personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed Christian worldview. Librarians at the Jerry Falwell Library are full-time benefited, 12-month administrative faculty members who engage in technical, instructional, and scholarly support of faculty, staff, and students. Areas of service may vary depending on changing needs, but all positions are committed to working collaboratively and independently in team-based environments.
Join our team of professional librarians at Liberty University’s Jerry Falwell Library! We have a full-time, faculty position available: Research & Instruction Librarian. New graduates are welcome to apply for our open staff positions. The library supports over 15,000 residential students, more than 2,700 faculty, and a thriving online learning community. Job Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides specialized undergraduate research support, instruction, and collection development.
- Contributes to and supports the JFL’s ongoing initiatives to integrate public services, collections, and instruction in the dynamic environment of networked-based information delivery.
- Collaborates with faculty and campus departments to develop approaches to information literacy supporting student retention and student success.
- Serves as a liaison librarian to academic department(s) as assigned which entails providing specialized library instruction and research assistance to students and faculty and supporting collection development for the assigned area(s).
- Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services, and leading industry performance benchmarks.
- Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
- Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.
Educational/Experiential Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Science (MLS or MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent degree/experience
- Demonstrated ability to adopt emerging practices and utilize instructional technologies
- Enthusiasm for collaboration with faculty and students in a variety of contexts
- Well-developed communication and teaching skills
