Bronx House is hiring: Music Instructor - Summer Camp in Pearl River

Bronx House Day Camp Music Specialist will be responsible for conducting fun, engaging recreational music instruction to campers. This position runs June 30th -August 19th, 9:30 am-3:30 pm, Mon-Fri.

Qualifications:

1. A knowledge base in the designated area of specialty or equivalent/necessary training.
2. Demonstrated skills and competency as an instructor or artist.
3. Understanding of conflict resolution, dedication, and mentoring concepts.
4. Good communication skills.
5. Strong group management skills.
6. Must be a team player.

Responsibilities:

1. Ensure that age-appropriate activities are implemented for youth, grades K-10. Plan, organize, and oversee varied activities related to the specialty with the support of unit leaders, group leaders, CITs, volunteers, and other specialty staff.
2. Build positive relationships with youth.
3. Encourage youth to actively participate in all available activities; promote respect and teamwork.
4. Prepare campers for Bronx House culminating activities and events/performances.
5. Provide a safe, structured environment for student learning.
6. Attend all required trainings.
7. Plan and post activity schedules, as necessary.
8. Maintain and supervise the use of all specialty-related equipment, reporting necessary maintenance and updates regularly to the Program Director.
9. Make periodic reports/announcements about the designated specialties.
10. Report to and provide necessary assistance to the Director and Unit Leaders when specialties are not in session.
11. Participate in the total camp program including all-camp events, opening and closing day.
