Position Information
Position Title: UIWtv Student Broadcasting News Director (Spring 2025)
Academic Year: 2024-2025

Position Summary: The UIWtv Student Broadcasting News Director (ND) is responsible for all on-air newscasts. The station promotes education while serving the university as a positive, reliable, and entertaining source of campus news, sports, and events. The UIWtv Student Broadcasting News Director reports to the Comm Arts Program Coordinator/Director.
This is a student position open to current UIW students who may be hired through the Federal Work-Study Program or student employment.
Essential Functions:
- Write, verify and approve scripts and stack the rundown.
- Manage the daily operations of UIWtv.
- Learn to deal with real-life production challenges and gain professional experience and receive hands-on experience for students with an interest in the production process and aesthetics of broadcast television.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to shoot, write and edit News Packages and VO/SOTS.
- Ability to give and take direction from others.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbally with others.
- Knowledge of TriCaster Switcher, PremierePro, camera equipment, and strong writing skills.
- Team player with a willingness to help and mentor students.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education: Full-time UIW Communication Arts student.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Successful completion of COMM 3395 TV Practicum or COMM 3353 Broadcast Journalism.
- Knowledge of TriCaster production switcher.
Work Hours: Must be available for rehearsals and live broadcasts. Rehearsals and broadcasts will be every Thursday from 11 AM - 1 PM. Additional rehearsals will also be scheduled based upon the availability of the Officers and News Talent.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
