Description
The MCHF Health Promotion Program Director will be housed in St. Bonaventure University’s DePerro School of Health Professions (DSHP). The Director serves as coordinator of the health promotion program collaborating with the Cattaraugus County Health Department Director and staff members and community partners. Within this role, the Director will develop programming, train health professions students, foster professional relationships with university members and community partners, and manage the schedule of health promotion activities at locations throughout Cattaraugus County. The Director will represent the DSHP and work with the Dean and academic Program Directors to identify appropriate undergraduate and graduate students as interns who will be trained to deliver health promotion education to County residents. The development and implementation of these initiatives are designed to improve the health of community members.
This staff position requires the candidate to be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and community-driven to take on this exciting role. This position reports to the Dean of the DSHP and requires someone equipped with a positive attitude and readiness to be a team player.
Examples of Duties
- Design and implement health education programs to increase awareness and knowledge for the improvement of health in a community.

- Create health promotion marketing tools and informational brochures/tools.
- Work with DSHP Dean and Program Directors to identify student interns.
- Train student interns, manage their schedule and assist with dissemination of information to seminar attendees
- Develop relationships with CCHD Director, staff members and community partners.
- Consult with CCHD to determine health needs and assist in the formulation and implementation of plans to reduce risk factors.
- Develop a calendar of outreach activities, including community events and workshops.
- Prepare and distribute educational and informational materials. Collect and analyze data to determine health trends and efficacy of programs.
- Prepare accurate records and reports on the progress and measurable outcomes of the project.
Typical Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in public health, health science or nursing is required.
- Graduate degree in public health, health science, health promotion or nursing is preferred.
- Preferred experience of 3-5 years with academic, healthcare or related outreach activities.
- Must possess a current, valid driver’s license to operate a vehicle in NYS
