Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, mass communication, or journalism required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in public relations, media relations, and/or corporate communications preferred.
  • Has a strong portfolio showing PR and corporate communications-related work and accomplishments.
  • Has experience using media monitoring and PR tools, such as Cision or Meltwater, preferred.
  • Has an understanding of utilizing digital communications strategies for public relations preferred.
  • Previous experience and proficiency using AI communications/marketing tools preferred.
  • Previous experience and proficiency in Microsoft o365 Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) required.
  • Can effectively plan, manage, execute and measure outcomes for multiple priorities.
  • Has previous experience and proficiency in using Dropbox and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Is an expert in writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Has excellent organizational skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with cross-functional teams, leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Has excellent time management skills to meet frequent deadlines.
  • Is able to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Able to see, hear and use upper extremities or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Able and willing to work independently with flexibility and integrity, as well as effectively and harmoniously with team members, residents, family members, volunteers, government agencies/personnel, the general public, and other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of healthcare and familiarity of working with older adults preferred.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be fully up-to-date with required vaccinations.
As a Public Relations Specialist, you can expect responsibilities such as the following:
  • Develops and implements public relations strategies that align with the department’s campaign plans, and supports strategic and business priorities.
  • Creates and manages the company’s annual public relations calendar, including awards submissions, national reputation recognition, media events, press opportunities, and other PR-related activities.
  • Writes and distributes press releases, media advisories, and other PR materials to local, regional, and national media outlets.
  • Plans, writes, executes, and distributes materials for several of ERS’s internal and external digital and printed properties, such public relations materials, articles, annual reports and more.
  • Plans and executes the submission process for annual awards, including writing compelling nominations, conducting research, interviewing stakeholders, and building key relationships with the individuals being nominated to ensure submissions are timely, accurate, and align with the company’s values, mission and key differentiators.
  • Fosters relationships with media contacts, including journalists, reporters, bloggers, and influencers, to build and maintain a key media contact list and increase PR-related opportunities for the organization.
  • Monitors media coverage and prepare regular reports on PR metrics, advertising value equivalent, tracking effectiveness of outreach efforts.
  • In partnership with the VP of Marketing, coordinates media events, interviews, and press releases and to elevate ERS’ brand and reputation with accurate and positive-focused media representation.
  • Responds to media inquiries and prepares schedules and talking points for leadership with VP of Marketing & PR, ensuring consistent and positive-focused messaging.
  • Utilizes AI tools proficiently to optimize the creation of PR communications and marketing materials.
  • Keeps up-to-date with industry publications, trends, content marketing best practices, and emerging technologies. Applies new and innovative approaches to content creation and distribution.
  • Conducts research on PR best practices and emerging trends to continuously improve the department’s efforts.
  • Works as an integral team member in the coordination of special events.
  • Coordinates and/or assists with the production of ERS marketing projects.
  • Supports elements of crisis communication efforts.
  • Attends and participates in-services, educational sessions, and other meetings as required.
  • Serves on various committees throughout the organization as requested.
